Concentrix stresses need for worker upskilling, cybercrime regulations

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Amit Jagga, Country Leader of global tech and services firm Concentrix, emphasized the importance of upskilling Filipino business process outsourcing (BPO) workers and implementing stronger cybercrime policies to maintain the Philippines’ position as the world’s top BPO market.
While the Philippines remains the leading outsourcing destination globally, Jagga noted the increasing competition from other countries.
“We need to go after frauds,” he stated in an interview with ANC Market Edge, calling for policies that enable quicker prosecution and incarceration of cyber criminals.
“If we make sure that those cyber laws are attuned to the kind of frauds that are happening, [it] is definitely helping them become more competitive,” Jagga said, referring to the cybercrime regulations in other countries vying for BPO investments.
AI emergence necessitates upskilling
Jagga also underscored the need for continuous upskilling of Filipino BPO workers amid the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. As AI automates certain tasks previously handled by humans, he emphasized the importance of equipping the workforce with new skills to remain competitive.
“We need to strengthen this position even further,” Jagga stated, stressing the significance of upskilling initiatives to maintain the Philippines’ leadership in the global outsourcing industry.
Concentrix invests in upskilling programs
Concentrix itself has invested heavily in upskilling programs for its Filipino employees. The company has established partnerships with universities and educational institutions to provide training in areas such as data analytics, robotic process automation, and cloud computing.
By addressing the challenges posed by cybercrime and AI through robust policies, workforce development programs, and strategic partnerships, the Philippines can solidify its status as the premier BPO destination worldwide.
