Danao City celebrates 100 IT-BPM scholars’ graduation

DANAO CITY, PHILIPPINES — Danao City recently held a graduation ceremony for 100 scholars who completed the city’s Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) scholarship program, marking a significant step in strengthening the sector.
The graduates, who are the third batch from the program, specialized in Contact Center Services NC II and Creative Web Design.
Danao City Mayor Mark Thomas Durano presided over the graduation ceremony, giving the graduates certificates and allowance.
Durano also emphasized the City’s dedication to developing talent and fostering economic growth in the IT-BPM industry.
The scholarship program is a collaborative effort between the city government, the office of Philippine Senator Bong Go, the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Call Center Academy, Ramon Nito Durano Family Foundation Inc., Cebu Technological University-Danao Campus, and Colegio de San Antonio de Padua.
It offers a comprehensive range of TESDA-accredited courses, including Contact Center Services, Creative Web Design, Medical Transcription, and Internet of Things.
Since its inception, the scholarship program has helped 350 scholars acquire essential skills and knowledge to excel in their field.
Durano also announced plans for the establishment of IT Parks and a Digitalization Roadmap to further support the sector’s growth and competitiveness in the city.
“We are also developing our Digitalization Roadmap as we aim to be included in the next Digital Cities of the Country and increase our ranking in terms of competitiveness in all aspects of growth, not just limited to economic growth,” he added.
Danao is a 3rd class component city in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to real estate consultancy firm Colliers, Cebu remains one of the most attractive expansion hubs for outsourcing firms in the Philippines.
