Davao City partners with IT-BPO sector in booster shot campaign

The Davao City COVID-19 Task Force is partnering up with several Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) firms to increase the number of the sector’s employees with booster shots.
According to the Task Force’s spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, “BPOs are one of the big establishments or companies with mass hiring. We have been partnering with them (for the vaccination) since the surge and now we will also partner with them to increase booster doses.”
Schlosser said that although the number of fully vaccinated BPO employees is high, those with boosters remain low due to complacency.
The spokesperson stated that employees feel that they are already protected from the virus even without a booster shot.
Meanwhile, since other companies require full-vaccination with a booster to get back to the office, employees are avoiding getting their third vaccine appointment to stay at home.
Schlosser noted that they have already discussed different approaches to address the situation and create a strategy that will help increase the number of booster dose jabs.
The Davao City Task Force’s partnership with the IT-BPO industry is part of the city government’s sectoral vaccination approach that aims to bring vaccines in different sectors and establishments in the city.
