DBM to allocate P12.47Bn next year for digitalization

The Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) proposed 2023 National Expenditure Program worth P12.47 billion ($211,813,674.20 million) is targeted on developing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) according to Budget Secretary, Amenah Pangandaman.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) alone will receive P4.24 billion ($72,024,922.40 million), Department of Finance (DOF) P3.56 billion ($60,497,394 million), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Bureau of Customs (BOC) will likewise get P3.56 billion.
“Let us include private partnerships to maximize the service that we give to the people. Let us use that to implement critical projects in each locality, especially those related to infrastructure and digitalization,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said in response to the digitalization roadmap.
With digitalization becoming one of the priorities, the Philippines has slightly improved with a score of 52.81, placing it higher in a database that evaluates the competitiveness of economies in shifting to digital technology, according to IMD’s World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2022.
