De-risking strategies implemented to help the PH BPO industry

The de-risking strategies implemented by global companies amid the COVID-19 pandemic can help boost the IT and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry in the Philippines, said IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP)’s former president and CEO Rey Untal.
During an executive session last September 2, Untal stated that these “rebalancing efforts” by IT-BPM firms could result in a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) that is higher than the originally projected 5.5%.
The IBPAP president added that they are forecasting an export revenue of around $29 billion and the opening of over 1.43 million additional direct jobs by the end of 2022.
Meanwhile, Untal is also urging Meralco and its fiber Internet and data solutions unit, Radius Telecoms, to provide the necessary infrastructure to allow outsourcing companies to continue with their work-from-home (WFH) arrangement even after the pandemic.
Meralco Corporate Business Group – Technical Services Head Victor L. Risma IV assured Untal that they are prepared to “do what we can to keep the lights on in the homes and businesses of our customers.”
