DICT offers free Google-designed professional ICT training to Filipinos

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) recently opened access to free Google Career certificates in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
According to DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy, the program will make “right-skilling and right-tooling” more accessible to Filipinos who are interested in taking part in the industry.
The DICT added that the free courses would cover Data Analytics, User Experience Design, Project Management, and IT support.
“Through this program, Filipinos can prepare for a new career in the high-growth field of ICT without any prior experience while connecting to top employers,” the agency noted.
Interested registrants should be 18 years old and above, Filipino citizens and residents, and should be able to complete the online course through their own devices.
The agency also revealed that “priority nomination” will be observed, with the disadvantaged or unemployed segments coming first, followed by people who are likely to hold “less stable jobs,” vocational students, as well as university learners who are pursuing technology-related courses.
Individuals who are aiming to take part in the Google Career Certificates Program may apply through DICT’s regional offices.
