DICT pushes for fully digitalized e-governance

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is full steam ahead its digitalization roadmap that’s aimed at accelerating free connectivity in remote areas which private telecommunications companies tagged as commercially unviable.
“The enhancement of connectivity will also be strategically positioned in tourist destinations with the help of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and in airports, seaports, and busports in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr),” DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said.
One of the highlights of this mission is to procure a single and extensive e-commerce portal for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that can take advantage of e-payment systems to participate in the digital economy.
Once the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) facilitates the deployment, MSMEs can provide products and services online in an ecosystem where they can take full advantage of digital payments and participate in the digital economy.
