DICT relies on BPO sector to help with 2025 Digital Cities project

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is optimistic that the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector will create new jobs under the new normal, which will help 25 areas in the country become full-fledged Digital Cities by 2025.
To do this, the agency recently launched the Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) Industry Ambassadors project. According to ICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan, “The plan is for industry experts to be ambassadors through various interventions to help reinforce the role of the IT-BPM industry in economic growth.”
The DICT has projected a “moving target” of 200,000 jobs by the end of 2022 despite the economic impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
