DICT’s Mindanao digital hub a global prize finalist

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) announced that the Digital Hub Project of its Mindanao Cluster has been selected as a finalist in the 2020 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes. The project was nominated under the e-employment category, which has 353 nominated projects out of 806 projects worldwide.
The Digital Hub is a 24/7 co-working space and learning facility based in Zamboanga City. It offers access to tech resources and capacity-building activities and provides space for people engaged in digital work. The hub has trained more than 700 people on digital skills and catered to more than 2,500 users.
The WSIS Prizes honor entities that play an integral role in carrying out ICT-related initiatives to reach target outcomes. The awarding ceremony will take place in April.
