Digital Edge, Threadborne Group to build 10MW data center in PH

Singapore-based data center company Digital Edge is partnering with Philippines real estate firm Threadborne Group, to build a 10MW data center in the country’s capital Manila.
This new center will offer colocation and interconnection to both local and international customers in the Greater Manila region. The two companies have allotted $100 million to the new facility that is due to be completed by the end of 2022.
Additionally, the new facility is projected to have an annualized PUE (power usage effectiveness) of 1.193 at optimal operating temperature and WUE (water usage effectiveness) of 1.355.
Digital Edge CEO Samuel Lee said that the Southeast Asian country is an “underserved market” with huge demand for data center capacity.
Data from research and consulting firm Structure Research shows that the colocation market in the Philippines is predicted to hit $313 million by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 22% between 2021 and 2026.
Digital Edge Chief Development Officer Jay Park added that this deal will help put the Philippines “into the league of having one of the most advanced data centers in Asia.”
The Singaporean company currently has 13 established data centers across four countries.
