Digital skills, Gen AI dominate India’s job market

BENGALURU, INDIA — The first quarter of FY2024 has seen digital skills, generative artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics emerge as the most coveted skills in India.
A report by staffing business services provider Quess Corp highlights the promising career prospects for those adept in various tech fields, including development, SAP, automotive design, testing, and infrastructure support.
Quess Corp said the push for upskilling has been evident across multiple sectors over the past year, addressing India’s widening skill gap.
The IT and BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance) sectors prominently lead the way in the country’s tech-specialized hiring intent. Development roles accounted for 28% of the hiring intent in the first quarter, with automotive design securing a 14% share.
The momentum in the automotive sector, both globally and within India, is spurred by growing digitization, emphasizing the importance of tech-savvy expertise.
The report also stated that advanced technologies such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, and the Industrial Internet of Things empower companies to refine intricate processes and tackle volatility more actively.
Quess Corp further pinpointed that the epicenters of tech hiring in India are largely concentrated in IT hubs, especially in regions like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Haryana.
