DOJ warns against illicit job offers on socmed
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Justice (DOJ) is telling the public to be cautious about high-paying jobs posted on social media platforms.
The DOJ said that syndicates are using social media to offer enticing call center jobs as a front for cryptocurrency scams.
The statement is issued by the DOJ following reports from the Philippine Embassy in Thailand about the increasing number of Filipinos being illegally recruited by Southeast Asia-based criminal syndicates to commit cybercrimes.
Meanwhile, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said people should also be wary about syndicates operating through Tiktok.
The victims recounted that they were recruited after coming across advertisements on social media platforms Telegram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Just recently, the Department of Foreign Affairs rescued Filipinos from Myanmar and Cambodia who were victimized by similar syndicate groups.
