DOLE receives non-compliance reports on construction, BPO sectors
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has received several complaints on the alleged non-compliance to health protocols of various companies that belong to the construction and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sectors.
In a message sent to INQUIRER.net, DOLE spokesperson Rolly Francia said that the concerns are composed of “non-provision of health declaration forms, no contact tracing being conducted, and no isolation facilities for workers who feel unwell.”
DOLE Assistant Secretary Ma. Teresita Cucueco shared these violations in an online forum organized by the Department of Health (DOH) last Tuesday.
Cucueco noted that some of the complaints are “based on anecdotal accounts” but did not disclose the exact number of concerns that the agency has collected.
DOLE partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) last August 2020 to issue new work protocols to minimize the transmission of the COVID-19 virus in the workplace.
The labor agency has intercepted over 600 deficiencies from non-compliant establishments from January to February this year alone.
