DOST, TESDA to offer data analytics training

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will offer free online courses for those who want to work as data analysts.
According to a report, both agencies and some state universities will open data analysis training centers to address the increasing demand for such professionals, skills mismatch, and unemployment.
Analytics Association of the Philippines Executive Director Sherwin Pelayo revealed that the IT sector would need around 500,000 analytics professionals by 2028. The demand can be more than that if we count on other industries.
The field also presents significant opportunities even for high school graduates, as entry-level salaries can go as high as Php25,000 (US$455) per month.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said it is important to know the skills currently needed by companies to start training people and ensure employability after graduation.
Philippine Business for Education Justine Raagad added that it is right to ask different sectors as they are the only ones who know what skill sets they need in their workplaces.
