DTI, PH embassy to lure more Singaporean investors

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Embassy hope to attract more Singapore-based businesses to the country during the 3rd Philippine-Singapore Business and Investment Summit on April 27.
The event — which will be headed by cabinet officials including DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno — is set to showcase various business opportunities in the country for Singaporean firms.
This comes after President Rodrigo Duterte signed amendments to key economic bills namely, the Retail Trade and Liberalization Act (RTLA), Foreign Investments Act, and the Public Service Act.
According to the economic team, these legislations will make the country a more attractive investment destination for foreign firms worldwide.
About 400 participants are expected to attend the business and investment summit. This includes Singapore-based executives from the manufacturing sector; multinational corporations; micro, small and medium enterprises, business groups, and members of the diplomatic corps.
