DTI supports extended WFH setup for BPO firms

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) supports the extension of the work from home arrangement of Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) -registered Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies even beyond September 12 of this year.
PEZA-registered BPO companies received incentives from the government at the height of COVID-19 pandemic last year and allowed as many as 90 percent of their employees to work from home. The Board of Investments (BOI) was unsure if it could allow the same percentage this year.
Industry data showed that available PEZA-accredited IT space declined, resulting in insufficient supply to meet industry demand and also facing a challenge in talent availability in the countryside.
