Dutch call centers get pay hike deal

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS — In a landmark move, approximately 40,000 Dutch call center employees are set to benefit from up to a 16% wage increase, thanks to the recently enforced Call Centers Collective Labor Agreement in the Netherlands.
For employees earning more than the applicable minimum hourly wage in 2022, the deal includes a salary adjustment ranging between 7% and 18.1%, depending on their previous wage rates. This will be effective from August 16 through December 31, 2023.
FNV Call Centers Director Elly Heemskerk celebrated the agreement, stating it comes “at the right time” given the current economic climate.
The wage hike, announced in the Government Gazette, applies to all Dutch call centers, extending immediate financial relief to a large workforce.
Amid rising living expenses, this labor agreement sets an industry standard for equitable pay in the Netherlands’ call center industry.
