E-governance bill gets House approval

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The E-governance Act has been passed by the House Committee on Appropriations.
House Bill No. 3, which seeks to institutionalize the government’s transition into e-governance, is a priority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., said panel chair and Ako Bicol Party-list representative Elizaldy Co.
The proposed measure seeks to promote the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in transforming government processes, operations, and service delivery into more citizen-centric, interconnected, and transparent governance. It also includes establishing the Philippine Infostructure Management Corporation (PIMC) to enhance the delivery of government services through interoperability and maximization of resources.
“With the establishment of the PIMC, we can ensure that our citizens will have access to efficient, reliable, and responsive government services,” Co said in a statement.
The bill is authored by Speaker Martin Romualdez, TINGOG Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, and Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos.
The bill is expected to undergo further deliberation at the House plenary to secure the lower chamber’s final approval.
