Egypt strengthens global footprint in software industry
CAIRO, EGYPT — The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) recently organized a roundtable discussion on how to boost Egyptian IT and software firms on the global stage.
The event, orchestrated by ITIDA CEO Engineer Ahmed Elzaher, convened industry leaders to talk about the adoption of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) to improve business performance and create a sustainable competitive edge.
Elzaher stressed ITIDA’s dedication to fostering growth and international competitiveness within the local software sector. He pointed out the increasing global demand for software engineering expertise, which Egypt is poised to meet through strategic development programs and securing international accreditations for its firms.
The discussion also touched on ITIDA’s efforts to boost the number of accredited IT companies in Egypt.
This includes a partnership with the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) and the Chamber of Information and Communication Technology (CIT), where CIT will cover half the certification costs for 20 of its member companies to achieve CMMI certification.
Since 2007, SECC has been instrumental in providing CMMI-related services, certifying over 200 companies across Egypt and the region. The CMMI framework is renowned for its effectiveness in enhancing organizational processes and reducing risks in software and service development.
The roundtable highlighted the Egyptian government’s commitment to technological education and innovation, showcasing a significant increase in IT training initiatives.
This aligns with Egypt’s ambition to become a leading hub for IT services and innovation, further solidifying its global standing in the software industry.
