Egypt unveils digital strategy for outsourcing sector

Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) in collaboration with global consulting firm Ernst & Young officially launched a digital transformation program for the country’s outsourcing industry.
The four-year digital strategy explores three main pillars for development — including available talents, ecosystem, and international marketing and promotion.
The two agencies built this framework based on a thorough and objective study of the Egyptian market and the growing demand in the global market for cross-border services.
ITIDA CEO Amr Mahfouz explained that the strategy was prepared in a way that contributes to enhancing trust and credibility with the country’s main industry partners and attracting new investors.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat attended the launch and said that he held discussions with industry leaders to open new job opportunities and develop and promote the sector’s growth.
Additionally, the Minister emphasized that the ICT sector’s growth rate reached 16% last year — the highest growth among the state’s sectors — and accounts for five per cent of the country’s GDP.
Talaat noted that Egypt ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa and 15th globally in the Global Service Locations Index issued by the Kearney global consultancy for 2021 as investments in the emerging technology companies sector surged by 170%.
