El Salvador to debut first-ever tech park in 2024

LA LIBERTAD, EL SALVADOR — The first-ever technological park in El Salvador, called Atius Tech Park, is scheduled to begin operations in 2024.
The tech hub — a US$72 million investment in Ciudad Arce, La Libertad — will offer 44,000 square meters (sq.m.) for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms, call centers, software development companies, and technology training centers.
Edwin Escobar, CEO of Aristos Real Estate, the company behind the project, revealed that Altius seeks to earn LEED certification, an international accolade for sustainable building and operation practices.
Altius’ standout feature will be DataTrust, El Salvador’s premier Tier III certified commercial data center, underlining the park’s commitment to robust data protection solutions. In line with Aristos’ sustainability pledge, Altius plans to harness a 10-megawatt solar energy project to lessen its carbon footprint.
Escobar added that they aim to train young people interested in joining the outsourcing and tech industries.
“At Altius, we will need to collaborate with the public sector and other stakeholders to train more individuals in the English language, information, and communication technologies, as well as soft skills.”
The park is also poised to create approximately 5,000 direct jobs, promoting local talent and decentralizing job opportunities in the country.
Escobar also noted the recent approval of El Salvador’s Law on Innovation and Technological Manufacturing.
“The timing for this new law is fantastic because nowadays, fiscal incentives and other types of benefits are the entry ticket to attract investments. Without offering such incentives, it becomes challenging to succeed,” he concluded.
