Empathy-driven jobs offer $50K+ and AI-proof security

GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO — As artificial intelligence continues to transform workplaces and fuel concerns about job security, new research highlights that roles requiring genuine human connection remain in strong demand.
A new Empathetic Jobs Report from Zety has identified 14 well-paying careers that blend emotional intelligence with long-term stability, offering median salaries of $50,000 or more and strong resistance to automation.
“Careers grounded in emotional connection, caregiving, and interpersonal sensitivity remain firmly human,” the report notes.
Many of the roles most resistant to automation are found in healthcare, mental health, education, and social services, where technology can only support the deeply personal aspects of the work.

Human touch remains irreplaceable
The report’s findings strongly suggest that emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and interpersonal judgment provide greater job security than ever. “The most enduring opportunities belong to those who bring humanity to their roles,” the report adds.
In line with this, Zety also released a report about 43% of Gen Z workers seeking jobs that AI can’t replace. For an increasing number of people, blue-collar work and skilled trades have become a viable option. More than half of those surveyed (53%) are seriously considering these paths, drawn by higher pay, greater flexibility, and a faster track to employment.
