U.S. employee confidence hits record low in February 2025: Glassdoor

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — The latest Glassdoor Employee Confidence Index found that employee confidence in the United States is at an all-time low as of February 2025.
The percentage of employees with a positive six-month business outlook fell to 44.4%, the lowest since Glassdoor began tracking the data in 2016.
This decline is related to the increasing economic uncertainty that leads to stress and overwork, as employees are expected to do more with less amid budget constraints and management pressure.
Economic anxiety across industries
The worker confidence fell 4.9 percentage points from last month to 68.5%, and it fell 7.3 percentage points from a year ago in public administration and government.
The confidence is the lowest in this industry, together with the restaurants and food services, at 38.1%.
The manufacturing industry has also been affected by the uncertain trade policies and tariffs, which led to a 3.7 percentage point fall over the last year.
Varied confidence across seniority levels
Mid-level staff hit a new low with a 1.7 percentage point annual decline, the lowest since April 2016.
Sentiment for entry-level staff has also been on the decline, but at a slightly less aggressive rate of 1.4 percentage points.
Although it had the least decline, the senior-level staff also recorded a fall of 0.9 percentage points.
