Employment hike seen in provinces due to WFH

The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) is seeing a hike in employment in Philippine provinces as the work from home arrangement (WFH) allowed the industry to expand its talent pool across the country.
In particular, the BPO agency is seeing employment demand in Bacolod, Davao, Iloilo, Dumaguete, and Baguio, among others.
“We are in a unique position in the country to be able to leverage our multiple cities, our Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and spread the economic growth,” said IBPAP President Jack Madrid.
Madrid added that the WFH arrangement is “here to stay” and is “not a one-time thing,” noting that the next six to 12 months are “critical on how we manage this next stage of growth for the industry.”
IBPAP stated that WFH may boost employee satisfaction, which will play a role in decongesting Metro Manila.
