MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Asiatel Outsourcing has declared execution-focused business process outsourcing operations the category most exposed to AI-driven compression, drawing a competitive divide between routine-task providers and firms that integrate human talent, process capability, and artificial intelligence into knowledge-intensive delivery models.

The company, which operates from a global delivery center in Pasig City and generates more than $6 million in annual revenue across eight countries, is adding 250 delivery seats in Metro Manila while accelerating a transition from execution tasks toward engineering support, environmental social and governance compliance, and AI-assisted finance services.

AI compresses execution-task BPO margins, Asiatel warns

According to Manila Times, artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced a structural split inside the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, with Asiatel Outsourcing Chief Executive Officer Jasjit Singh Anand warning that providers concentrated in routine, execution-based work face mounting competitive pressure as AI tools automate the transactional cognitive tasks at the foundation of those delivery models.

Asiatel is transitioning away from execution tasks toward knowledge process outsourcing, targeting engineering support, environment, social and governance (ESG) compliance, software as a service (SaaS) deployment, and AI-assisted finance services as the growth categories that will sustain margins as execution-tier rates compress.

The company, founded in 2006, publicly listed on the TSX Venture Exchange in Canada under the symbol ATOI, and the first Philippine-founded outsourcing firm to achieve that listing milestone, is pursuing acquisitions of specialized knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and AI-capable outsourcing businesses to accelerate its pivot.

“Purely execution-task will come under pressure,” said Jasjit Singh Anand, Chief Executive Officer of Asiatel Outsourcing.

Winners will blend people, process, and AI: Anand

Anand outlined a three-component model for the BPO providers positioned to capture growth in the AI-disrupted delivery landscape: integration of people, operational processes, and AI into a unified service structure that execution-only competitors cannot replicate at comparable cost.

Asiatel’s planned addition of 250 delivery seats in Metro Manila, alongside satellite office expansion and targeted acquisitions, reflects the company’s positioning ahead of what Anand characterized as an inevitable compression of execution-only delivery margins.

Anand said human workers remain central to competitive delivery, with human-AI collaboration forming the foundation of the differentiated service models that will define the industry’s next phase.

“The winners from here will be the companies that will blend the three. One is people, second is the process, and third is AI,” Anand said.

For offshore outsourcing buyers sourcing BPO capacity from the Philippines, Anand’s framework signals that provider selection is shifting from headcount cost toward AI-integration maturity as the defining differentiator. When execution-task compression accelerates, evaluating pre-screened BPO providers with demonstrated knowledge-process and AI-delivery capabilities becomes a critical step in due diligence.

Manila Times reporting on Asiatel confirms that execution-only BPO providers face a structural compression cycle, with AI tools absorbing the routine cognitive work that has historically defined Philippine offshore delivery’s price-competitive positioning.

For enterprise buyers with Philippine BPO delivery relationships, Anand’s framework signals that provider selection criteria should expand beyond headcount cost to include AI-integration roadmaps and knowledge-process service capacity.

Offshore BPO operations that have already begun transitioning entry-level workforces toward AI-adjacent delivery functions are positioned to absorb demand growth as volume-processing contract bases compress.
