Fiji gears up for ‘EXO Fiji’ outsourcing event

SUVA, FIJI — The Fijian government recently unveiled plans for a major outsourcing event called “Exploring Outsourcing in Fiji – EXO Fiji” to be held from June 19-22, 2024.
The 4-day event aims to promote Fiji as an attractive outsourcing destination and hub for the Asia Pacific region.
Speaking at the launch event, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications Manoa Kamikamica said EXO Fiji will offer opportunities for seasoned professionals and newcomers to explore the country’s business landscape and foster an environment aligning economic growth with social progress.
He highlighted Fiji’s efforts in advancing its ICT infrastructure through projects like the new subsea cable with Google, supported by policies promoting economic diversification.
Kamikamica emphasized that the event will showcase Fiji’s ICT infrastructure, providing connectivity for current outsourcing companies. He pointed out Fiji’s competitive advantages like seamless connectivity, cutting-edge IT solutions meeting digital economy demands, and strategic location favored by global brands for services and skilled workforce.
Fiji has over 30 outsourcing companies employing around 8,000 people and generating over $200 million annually. The government aims to grow the sector further by attracting foreign companies through EXO Fiji.
EXO Fiji will feature leading figures in Fiji’s outsourcing sector, successful clients outsourcing to Fiji, heads of government, and service delivery leaders. Participants can also experience Fiji’s culture through a tour on the final day.
Outsource Fiji, the industry body organizing EXO Fiji, said the Pacific region’s largest outsourcing event will enable delegates to explore why Fiji should be the next outsourcing destination given its proximity, neutral accents, risk diversification, and ‘workation’ (work + vacation) opportunities.
