Fiji BPOs to potentially create 100K jobs in 10 years

The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry in Fiji has the potential to generate about 100,000 jobs in the next 10 years, said Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
During the launch of local BPO company Bula Outsourcing, Bainimarama said that the sector is playing its part in efforts to diversify Fiji’s economy because of the greatest assets already available in the country.
Those assets, according to the PM, included Fiji’s skilled, young, literate, English-speaking, and tech-savvy workforce.
He said the country also has access to a solid digital infrastructure available at affordable rates.
“We are in the right time zone – the only country where the 180-degree meridian makes landfall. We Fijians, I am told, have neutral accents easily understood by an Aussie, Kiwi, Brit, or American,” the PM stated
Bainimarama added that Fiji’s BPO industry should not be “understated” as it continues to open new employment opportunities to its young population.
