Fiji builds BPO village to become Pacific digital hub
SUVA, FIJI — Fiji is constructing a first-of-its-kind BPO Village in Nasinu’s Kalabu Tax Free Zone, aiming to transform the country into the Pacific’s digital outsourcing leader.
The government plans to attract global investors with high-speed connectivity and lifestyle amenities, targeting a billion-dollar business process outsourcing (BPO) industry that could double current operator numbers.
Fiji bets on next-gen BPO infrastructure
The new BPO hub will integrate workspaces, high-speed internet, and lifestyle facilities to create a self-sustained digital ecosystem.
Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica called it a “future-ready” project, aligning with Fiji’s National Digital Strategy to boost youth employment and economic diversification.
Currently, Fiji hosts eight BPO operators, with four or five new entrants recently joining. The government aims to more than double this figure, leveraging the country’s cost competitiveness, skilled workforce, and cultural affinity with key markets like Australia and New Zealand.
“The BPO sector is one of Fiji’s most promising economic engines. It brings jobs, innovation, and hope, especially for our young people looking for opportunities in the digital economy,” said Kamikamica.
Public-private push for regional dominance
Outsource Fiji and the government are unifying the sector through data alignment and investor outreach, following a BPO Council leadership transition.
Kamikamica emphasized collaboration to sustain growth, saying, “With major developments in the pipeline and increased public-private collaboration, Fiji is well-positioned to evolve into a billion-dollar BPO industry and a digital leader in the region.”
