Fiji needs to bring more fresh grads to the ICT industry

Fiji needs to attract more fresh graduates in their information, communications, and technology (ICT) sector, said Commerce and Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya.
In a statement, Koya shared that the local ICT industry is doing well due to the duty exemptions and tax holidays provided for infrastructure investments that support the ICT/BPO sectors — especially contact and data centers.
“We have incentivized what we can during the budget, and obviously it is an area that is very important to us…” Koya stated.
The minister added that these efforts had opened more job opportunities for the young Fijian population passionate about entering the IT space.
Koya explained that “because of the risk diversification that all the companies overseas are into now, Fiji has been looked at as a great place to risk diversify because our infrastructure is good, our telecoms have done a fantastic job setting this thing up so very positive for our young people too.”
Moreover, the trade official highlighted that the government is ready to equip students who want to join Fiji’s growing ICT industry.
