Fiji to benefit from Telstra-Digicel acquisition
Fiji’s shared services and outsourcing market is set to gain a larger global presence following the acquisition of the Pacific operations of mobile phone network company Digicel by telecommunication giant Telstra.
Outsource Fiji Executive Director Sagufta Janif said that having Telstra on their shores will boost Fiji as an “outsourcing destination of choice.”
She added that this sets a precedence for international companies who are looking to open up their shared services operations to consider Fiji as an ideal location.
Janif further emphasized that Telstra chose Fiji not only for its cost competitiveness but also for its highly-talented workforce and technology-savvy population.
Meanwhile, Telstra International CEO Oliver Camplin-Warner said that they aim to continue with Digicel’s shared services operations and identify ways to leverage the capabilities of the Fijians moving forward.
