Fiji’s BPO Council supports the “No Jab, No Job” policy
Fiji’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Council has voiced its support towards the national government’s “No jab, No job” policy during a virtual panel discussion.
In a conference about the thriving BPO industry in the country, the council expressed their agreement with the newly-announced policy of making vaccination compulsory for all workers in the public and private sectors.
They said that it will assist the BPO sector towards building confidence with international clients and position Fiji as the premier choice for outsourcing services.
Further, BPO Council Vice President Faiyaz Khan said the policy announcement is “very encouraging”. He added that the demand for the nation’s outsourcing industry is increasing which makes achieving the targeted vaccination rate very important.
Fiji is among the leading countries for BPO offshore destinations in the Pacific region. The outsourcing industry is forecasted to double its hiring rate from the current 5,000 employees.
Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama announced that private sector employees must have their first jab by August 1. Public servants in the country, on the other hand, must have their first injection by August 15. They would be dismissed if they did not receive their second dose by November 1 this year.
