Firms need to secure safety seals to increase capacity – DOLE

Philippine establishments are now advised to secure a safety seal by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to increase operational capacity.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III said companies with safety seals are allowed at least 10% additional operational and venue capacity, while firms in areas under Alert Level 2 will be given 20% additional capacity.
In a virtual forum, Bello explained that all Alert Level 2 establishments are currently open with a 70% capacity. A safety seal from DOLE or DTI will allow them to open at almost full capacity (90%).
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said this guideline is meant to encourage businesses to strengthen their health protocols to apply for safety seals.
Under the supplemental guidelines, DOLE and local government units are designated as issuing authorities for Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) companies and dental clinics.
The supplemental guideline also requires workplaces to designate safety officers who will be in charge of enforcing public health standards in their workplaces.
