Four in 10 APAC employers find it difficult to recruit ‘good people’

About 40% of senior executives in major organizations across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region are having difficulties recruiting so-called ‘good people.’
In a survey by business consultancy firm Oliver Wight, 37% of APAC executives are concerned about poor employee job satisfaction due to the current high cost of recruitment.
Meanwhile, 63% of respondents said their short-term planning and execution rely on ‘good people’ rather than a formal process or defined way of working.
Oliver Wight stated, “With executives saying they are constantly drawn into the ‘here-and-now’ to try to resolve short-term issues they are inevitably distracted from longer-term management of the business and the people issues will remain unresolved.”
The report also advised companies to ensure that there is a continuous policy of training and retraining personnel in the organization’s formal planning processes.
The paper explained that this policy will not only improve planning and performance but will also strengthen job satisfaction and the potential for talent recruitment.
