Japan’s Gateway Computer acquired by TD SYNNEX to boost Asia presence

Japan’s Gateway Computer acquired by TD SYNNEX to boost Asia presence

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, and TOKYO, JAPAN — Japan’s Gateway Computer Corporation, an IT outsourcing and solutions provider, has been acquired by TD SYNNEX, a global IT distributor, in a strategic move to significantly strengthen its position in the Japanese market

According to TD SYNNEX’s press release, the acquisition pairs TD SYNNEX’s international scale with Gateway’s four decades of specialized experience in serving non-Japanese clients, creating a combined force aimed at capturing more global projects centered on Japan.

“We are excited to welcome Gateway Computer and its highly skilled team into the TD SYNNEX family and for the new opportunities in our shared journey ahead,” said Shigetaka Kunimochi, President of TD SYNNEX Japan.

Global expertise meets Japanese innovation

Gateway Computer Corporation is an international company with a strong reputation, founded over 40 years ago, that provides multi-vendor hardware, software, and bilingual outsourcing solutions to domestic and international markets in Japan.

The heritage of providing high-value-added goods and services, supported by a staff of around 100 employees, adds value to TD SYNNEX’s wider goals in the region.

TD SYNNEX is a global distributor and aggregator of the IT ecosystem, providing managed IT services and an end-to-cloud portfolio of more than 2,500 technology vendors to its customers worldwide.

It is this large presence, with 23,000 employees, that is now strategically positioned to add Gateway Computer’s specialized regional capabilities to improve service delivery in the Japanese market.

Bilingual workforce enhances client support

Gateway Computer’s deep, localized expertise is a valuable asset, providing TD SYNNEX with a ready-made, sophisticated channel to serve multinational clients and vendors operating within Japan

The move is a direct strategy to compel new business opportunities with international resellers and vendors in the region, leveraging Gateway Computer’s proven track record.

Furthermore, integrating Gateway’s human capital is critical to this strategy. TD SYNNEX’s established operations are expected to be complemented by a bilingual workforce of more than 80 co-workers.

This is an experienced team that directly enhances TD SYNNEX’s capability to handle complex, Japanese-market-oriented global projects, offering international clients high-quality support with great flexibility and language compatibility.

The workforce is a key component in delivering the unparalleled specialized support promised to partners and customers.

Partnership fuels regional growth

The acquisition is fundamentally structured as a two-way street for growth, leveraging the unique strengths of both entities. While TD SYNNEX gains local expertise, Gateway Computer gains access to immense global resources.

TD SYNNEX’s extensive global footprint and vast vendor relationships are poised to enable Gateway Computer to expand its own business and market presence far beyond its current capacity. The purpose of this partnership is to enhance the combined entity’s capacity to cater to a wider range of partners.

The operational structure underscores the intent to preserve and leverage Gateway Computer’s established strengths. Gateway Computer will also remain an independent entity, and Hayashi will still be in charge and answer to the President of TD SYNNEX Japan.

This is to demonstrate a strategic decision to keep Gateway as both a corporate entity and an operational unit while smoothly integrating it into the broader global picture

“This share acquisition enables both companies to leverage our collective strengths to deliver higher value for our domestic and international vendors, partners, and customers in Japan,” Hayashi notes, highlighting how their combined strength results in better service to the clients.
