Geopolitics, internet demand drive PH data center growth — LPC

The Philippines is projected to experience multiple data center expansions for the next 36 months due to shifting geopolitics and the rising demand for internet services.
According to Leechiu Property Consultants (LPC) CEO David Leechiu, “There is an incredible amount of data center capital that wants to transact in the country due to its growing internet savvy population.
The exact number, according to the industry veteran, goes up to 38 companies which would result in “insane” levels of mega wattage.
As a result, major telecommunications providers PLDT Inc. and Globe Telecom are expanding their data center capacity by 100-MW each. Meanwhile, fiber internet giant Converge ICT Solutions announced it would build more data centers.
Chinese cloud computing company Alibaba Cloudand Singapore’s SpaceDC had already announced their intentions to put up data centers in the Philippines over the next few months.
