Germany to simplify work visa applications

MUMBAI, INDIA — German Chancellor Olaf Scholz revealed plans to simplify the process of obtaining work visas for Indian IT experts.
During his two-day state visit to India, Scholz said that Germany wants to benefit from the country’s “booming” software development sector. The chancellor also mentioned that around 1,800 German companies are active in India, strengthening the ties between the two nations.
Scholz stated they want to modernize the bureaucratic process and legal requirements to make it easier for workers and their families to come to Germany.
He said that it should be possible, initially, for people to arrive in Germany without a concrete job offer.
The European country will also look into relaxing language requirements to make Germany a more attractive destination.
“A lot of reform proposals have already been collected, and we are continuing to work on them,” Scholz noted.
The move to ease visa restrictions is part of Germany’s broader efforts to address its shortage of skilled workers due to its aging population and declining birth rate.
