Germany to help Egypt boost IT outsourcing jobs

CAIRO, EGYPT — The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to boost employment in Egypt’s outsourcing industry.
The partnership seeks to bolster Egypt’s IT sector, create jobs, push innovation, and focus on strengthening the local electronics industry.
A cornerstone of the MOU is a training program by ITIDA and GIZ targeting students and graduates, aiming to generate about 1,200 job opportunities. The curriculum includes the German language, business strategies, and essential soft skills.
ITIDA CEO El Ahmed El Zaher noted the agreement as a pivotal moment for Egypt-Germany IT collaboration, underscoring ITIDA’s goal to position Egypt as a leading offshoring hub. He emphasized Egypt’s rich pool of tech talents apt for European market needs.
El Zaher also affirmed that ITIDA is “keen on developing the digital and technical skills of youth and matching them with local and international companies specialized in the field of information technology.”
Meanwhile, GIZ Egypt Country Director Alexander Solyga highlighted their commitment to digital growth in Egypt.
“Through this collaboration, we aim to create new job opportunities and contribute to the development of a knowledge-based economy. This will help us to empower youth, women, entrepreneurs, and SMEs, further diversifying and strengthening the Egyptian economy,” he stated.
The partnership will also engage in hackathons, support startups, and boost Egyptian companies’ global visibility.
