Google CFO announces new cost-saving strategies
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Google Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porath recently sent a company-wide email laying out new cost-saving strategies amid the challenging global economic environment.
According to the email, the tech giant will reportedly continue reducing its workforce months after eliminating around six per cent of its employees.
Additionally, the firm will continue to relocate its teams to higher-priority work, maintain a slower pace of hiring, and be accountable for travel and entertainment (T&E) spending.
Google also wants to improve its outsourcing efforts, especially in software, equipment, and professional services.
Because the company is moving to a hybrid arrangement, Porath added that office amenities — like cafes, micro kitchens, fitness classes, and shuttle schedules — will be adjusted based on how and when they are used.
The CFO also noted that the company would evaluate its equipment spending while ensuring people have what they need to do the job.
Porath emphasized that one of the company’s important goals for 2023 is to “deliver lasting savings through improved speed and efficiency.”
“All the PAs and features are working on it,” she stated.
