Google employees to return to their offices on April 4

Multinational IT giant Google is requiring their employees to report back in the office three days a week starting April 4 as the company begins transition from full-time remote work to a hybrid arrangement.
In an internal email, the company explained that the “advances in prevention and treatment, the steady decline in cases we continue to see and the improved safety measures we have implemented … now [means] we can officially begin the transition to the hybrid work week.”
This mandate will affect employees from Google’s offices across the United States (US), United Kingdom (UK) and Asia Pacific.
Google joins a wave of companies in the technology and finance industries that have begun releasing their final return-to-office plans.
Google VP of Global Benefits John Casey said that everyone coming to the office must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption.
Unvaccinated workers and employees who are not yet prepared to return can seek a remote-work extension.
Since June last year, Google has approved nearly 14,000 transfer or remote work applications from their employees.
Casey added that about 15% of these applications were denied by the company.
