Guyana positions itself as UAE’s new strategic partner

Guyana is promoting itself as a potential strategic partner of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During a press conference in Dubai, President Dr. Irfaan Ali told local journalists and officials that the country has an “enormous potential” with its abundant natural resources that can satisfy domestic and international needs.
The Head of State is also interested in a partnership with the UAE since it knows how to turn its natural resource wealth and transform its economy.
The President added that through the proposed collaboration, the Middle Eastern country “can now look down [on] South America and see a new strategic partner.”
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Ashni Singh and Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce Oneidge Walrond noted that there are several areas of investment in Guyana. This includes energy, tourism, IT-BPO, agro-processing, agri-business, and tourism and hospitality sectors in the country.
