Guyana promoted as global BPO destination

The government of Guyana is actively promoting the country as a global destination for BPO operations as Senior Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh continues to visit local outsourcing facilities.
In his recent tour of Teleperformance’s facility in Camp Street, Singh said that the BPO industry has the potential to generate jobs and income, spur economic activity, and improve the lives of the locals.
He said that is why they are strongly supporting any business effort that aligns with their vision of diversifying the economy.
While there, the Minister, CEO Luis Baretto, and other officials of the company discussed the outsourcing firm’s expansion plans and the ways in which the government can lend its support to their operations. The senior finance minister added that his primary objective is to raise public awareness in the outsourcing sector.
Dr. Singh concluded that many international companies are now recognizing Guyana as a prime BPO destination because of its English-speaking population, educated workforce, and close proximity to the United States and Canada.
