Health startup Wellth launches AI features for chronic health conditions

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Wellth, a digital health startup known for incentivizing health-related tasks, announced the launch of new AI-powered personalized predictive features aimed at managing blood pressure.
These updates are designed to provide users and healthcare providers with tailored insights to help control chronic health conditions, particularly those influenced by elevated blood pressure.
Wellth’s app rewards users for completing health tasks
Wellth collaborated with insurers, providers, and employers to offer an app that encourages users to maintain daily health behaviors, such as taking medications and monitoring blood glucose levels.
Users receive small financial rewards for confirming task completion by submitting photos.
The app supports a range of health concerns, including mental health, cardiovascular disease, heart failure, diabetes, cancer, chronic kidney disease, and respiratory conditions like COPD and asthma.
AI-driven personalized alerts for blood pressure management
The new features leverage Wellth’s proprietary AI model to deliver personalized health alerts when a user’s blood pressure exceeds the target range set by their healthcare provider.
The AI model is trained on a vast dataset of blood pressure readings collected from user-submitted images, enabling the app to offer more precise health trend insights.
In an interview with MobiHealthNews, Wellth Co-founder and CEO Matt Loper said, “Now that we have this stream of millions of pictures of blood pressure readings and we can pull the data off that picture itself, we’re starting to look at the trends and how to holistically help each individual member improve outcomes in general, but especially around blood pressure.”
Improving care quality and reducing costs
Wellth’s AI features are particularly beneficial for Medicare Advantage and Medicaid providers, who require high monitoring levels for their members.
By improving medication adherence and tracking health metrics, Wellth aims to reduce high-cost hospitalizations and improve quality scores, including Medicare Star Ratings.
“The hope is that as you take these members… to get them more adherent to taking their medications, more adherent to tracking their metrics, and therefore can cut down those very high-cost hospitalizations, while also improving the Stars scores and the quality scores,” Loper explained.
Future expansion plans
Wellth plans to further expand its AI capabilities by introducing blood sugar monitoring and enhanced pill detection features.
This expansion follows a successful year marked by a $20 million Series B funding round led by SignalFire, with contributions from notable investors, including former Evolent Health CEO Frank Williams and the Social Entrepreneurs’ Fund.
In the past year, Wellth has partnered with Western Massachusetts Health New England and Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP) in California, extending its reach to more Medicare and Medicaid members.
Wellth’s latest AI-driven features represent a significant step forward in personalized healthcare, offering users and providers valuable tools to manage chronic conditions more effectively.
With plans for further enhancements, Wellth continues to innovate in the digital health space, aiming to improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
