Healthcare benefits most attractive to BPO jobseekers – study

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — A recent study made by customer experience products provider Sitel Philippines revealed that healthcare programs and benefits attract people who are looking for jobs in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry.
According to study proponent and University of the Philippines – College of Mass Communication faculty Fernando Paragas, health management organization (HMO) coverage and programs is considered as an important consideration for jobseekers looking to join BPO firms.
Respondents included current Sitel Philippines employees who were asked about their perception and experiences regarding career growth, as well as health and wellness in the BPO industry and within their organization.
“The stress of everyday life, consequences of wrong lifestyle choices, and environmental stressors—all these can sap a person’s physical and emotional energy,” the study notes.
“Moreover, they can be financially draining. What employees are looking for in order to deal with all these is a set of benefits designed to improve their health condition and foster self-care without breaking their budget,” it further said.
Similarly, another study done by Malaysian employment website JobStreet and London-based data analytics firm Kantar revealed that jobseekers perceive the BPO industry as “appealing” due to compensation and benefits like medical coverages.
