Hexaware appoints Amit Vij to lead new private markets division

NAVI MUMBAI, INDIA — Hexaware Technologies, an IT services provider, has named Amit Vij as its Chief Private Markets Officer, a newly created role aimed at driving growth with private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
The appointment leverages Vij’s over two decades of experience advising investors on value creation as the IT services firm seeks to deepen its engagement in this strategic sector.
“Amit brings a rare combination of private markets expertise, technology acumen, and an operator’s mindset,” said R. Srikrishna, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Director at Hexaware.
Hexaware targets private equity value creation
The move is a direct push to win more business with private equity, infrastructure, private debt, real estate, sovereign wealth funds, and distressed debt funds, and their portfolio companies.
The appointment of a C-suite leader is allowing Hexaware to formalize its interest in this group of investors, who are considered to be highly demanding in terms of quick operational restructuring and specific returns on their investment.
Vij’s mandate is explicitly to drive strategy and business growth within this complex private markets ecosystem. His established experience collaborating directly with boards and C-suite executives to align strategic priorities with operational implementation is the key to Hexaware’s value proposition.
The company is also marketing its IT and business process solutions as a strategic instrument of the value-creation agenda that private-market investors are keen on, aiming to become an integrated partner rather than just a service provider.
As Srikrishna notes, “As investors and portfolio companies push harder on value creation, we see a clear opportunity to help them move faster with technology and AI-driven interventions that deliver real business outcomes.”
“Amit’s leadership will strengthen how we partner with private equity firms and their portfolios globally.”
Vij brings finance, military discipline to Hexaware
The appointment highlights a premium on a highly specialized leadership profile that blends deep financial acumen with unconventional operational discipline.
Vij’s career path is notable for its combination of high-stakes advisory roles and unique foundational experience.
His experience in investment banking at Deutsche Bank in London, as a mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance advisor, gives him essential credibility and an understanding of clients’ financial engineering and deal-making priorities in the private market.
Moreover, Vij retired as a squadron leader in the Indian Air Force, which gives his leadership style a distinct facet, as he served as a fighter pilot before retiring.
Such a history implies an orientation toward a very specific set of attributes for performance under pressure and for strategic mission implementation, which is directly applicable to complex client engagements in the high-pressure private markets sector.
This unusual combination of financial counselling, business strategy, and military discipline is a strong career portfolio to spearhead Hexaware into a challenging business.
As Vij notes, “The emphasis on portfolio value creation has never been greater, and addressing this market requires a fundamentally more agile approach.”
“We have a unique opportunity to create tangible value for funds and their portfolio companies through technology and AI-driven interventions aligned to client outcomes. I look forward to bringing this to life with a client-first mindset.”
Hexaware ranked #18 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. The 2026 edition of the OA500 is expected to be released in March.
