MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Global technology firm HP Philippines and the Philippine Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) are intensifying their efforts to promote inclusive adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across the Philippines, aiming to enhance innovation and competitiveness in the country’s thriving IT-BPM industry

According to a report from Gadget Pilipinas, the initiative underscores a shared goal: to make AI knowledge and skills accessible to Filipinos beyond Metro Manila and drive long-term national growth.

Expanding AI education through frontier technologies

Through the Frontier Tech Trends program held recently in Roxas City, Capiz, HP Philippines and DICT brought advanced AI learning to regional communities.

Supported by the local government, the event expanded beyond AI fundamentals, providing participants with hands-on sessions on AI-powered tools, upskilling platforms, and industry-specific applications.

Organizers stated that the event aimed to showcase how AI can drive national development by providing actionable insights, enhancing decision-making, and facilitating real-world transformation across sectors, like IT-BPM and emerging technologies.

Idris Murat Atakli, AI consultant for HP and a global expert in cybersecurity and digital transformation, led the sessions and showcased how AI’s role has evolved.

Atakli noted that AI has evolved beyond simple automation and now plays a vital role in supporting critical decision-making across both business and government operations.

He also introduced participants to prompt engineering — the process of translating complex policies and regulations into practical strategies that can improve organizational performance.

A recent study cited by HP underscores AI’s vast potential to bolster the Philippine economy, estimating that it could inject up to $31 billion through enhanced efficiency, innovation, and data-driven growth.

Strengthening cybersecurity and digital skills with AI

The program also highlighted how AI-driven tools are becoming essential to cybersecurity. Participants learned how machine learning can detect anomalies, predict threats, and ensure compliance in data-sensitive industries such as IT-BPM.

These skills, HP noted, are key to enhancing productivity and enabling workers to shift their focus from routine tasks to higher-value work.

HP Philippines emphasized that its partnership with DICT aims to ensure no region is left behind in the country’s digital transition. By extending AI education to provinces like Capiz, the initiative supports DICT’s mission of bridging the digital divide and nurturing inclusive economic development.

AI drives smarter, more resilient outsourcing growth

Initiatives like this represent a significant milestone for the Philippines, a global leader in outsourcing. As the IT-BPM sector faces mounting pressure to adopt automation, inclusive AI training offers a path forward that strikes a balance between innovation and job resilience.

Rather than replacing human talent, AI can augment Filipino workers’ strengths in communication, empathy, and problem-solving—capabilities that remain central to the industry’s global competitiveness.

Through programs like Frontier Tech Trends, HP and DICT are helping build not just an AI-ready workforce, but a smarter, future-ready outsourcing economy.
