Huawei PH celebrates ICT program’s 7th anniversary

Huawei Philippines celebrated the seventh anniversary of its Seeds for the Future program that aims to cultivate students for the future of the ICT industry.
During the opening ceremony of the celebration, Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin said that Huawei’s initiative “has spread exponentially to make a difference in the lives of almost 9,000 beneficiaries worldwide.”
The Commission on Higher Education Chairman Prospero De Vera, and the University of the Philippines Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo were also present during the event.
De Vera stated that the Seeds for the Future program has become “one of the most awaited events” by aspiring ICT experts in the country.
He added that the current program “will not just stimulate the minds” of the participants but will also let them share their knowledge, leading to an “immersive, inclusive, and robust ICT ecosystem.”
Nemenzo noted that the program is an introduction for students to learn new technologies — such as 5G, AI, and cloud computing.
Huawei invested US$50 million to develop 500,000 future talents in the Asia Pacific. The majority of them are spent on the Seeds of the Future scheme.
