Hybrid work could boost Scotland’s economy by millions
The adoption of hybrid work by most organizations and employees in Scotland could bring a major influx of workers and a multi-million-pound boost to the country’s economy.
A Virgin Media O2 Business study conducted with the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) stated that Scotland has been implementing hybrid work more than anywhere else in the United Kingdom.
Due to this, an estimated 238,000 workers said that they are willing to relocate to secure employment in the country.
The report added that their arrival, assuming that they would retain their current jobs and salaries, could bring £7.1 million to the Scottish economy — the highest economic impact among the countries included in the report.
Virgin Media O2 Business Director Of Large Enterprise And Public Sector Mike Smith said that the report shows that “embracing hybrid working can have concrete economic and societal impacts..”
He added that business leaders now have to listen to their workforce and offer a choice on how they want to continue working.
On average, local employees said that they want to work 2.8 days a week from home, up 254% from pre-pandemic and above the UK’s 2.35 figure.
