IBM buys U.K. cyber consultancy Logiq to expand defense work

- IBM UK announced its acquisition of Logiq Consulting on Sept. 24, 2026.
- Logiq is an NCSC-assured cybersecurity consultancy in the United Kingdom.
- Phoenix Equity Partners, which invested in 2023, was among the sellers.
- Financial terms: not disclosed.
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — IBM has acquired Logiq Consulting, a cybersecurity consultancy in the United Kingdom with deep expertise in defense, critical national infrastructure and the wider public sector, to expand its secure digital transformation work for regulated clients.
Logiq was backed by private equity firm Phoenix Equity Partners, which sold alongside the business founders and other shareholders. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Logiq adds Secure by Design expertise
According to a company announcement, IBM said Logiq is assured by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and brings capabilities spanning cybersecurity assurance, Secure by Design, secure systems engineering, digital transformation and secure managed services.
Logiq also developed and operates DISX, a managed, sovereign collaboration platform that lets government suppliers securely exchange sensitive information with U.K. government and defense organizations.
The deal extends IBM’s cybersecurity transformation portfolio and complements the defense and public-sector digital transformation work of SiXworks, an IBM company.
“Cybersecurity, governance and resilience are absolutely critical to organisations as they increasingly accelerate their transformation and adopt AI at scale,” said Rhodri Arrowsmith, managing partner for IBM Consulting in the U.K. and Ireland.
IBM bets on sovereign, secure AI adoption
Mark Hughes, global managing partner for IBM Consulting Cybersecurity Services, said the acquisition strengthens IBM’s ability to help clients manage risk, protect critical services and navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape.
IBM said the acquisition advances its broader hybrid cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital sovereignty agenda, helping U.K. clients keep control over critical data and meet evolving security and regulatory requirements.
Law firm Travers Smith, which advised the sellers, said it had previously advised Phoenix Equity Partners on its investment in Logiq in 2023.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for Logiq Consulting,” said James Morgan, chief executive officer of Logiq Consulting. “Our success has been built on exceptional people, trusted customer relationships and a relentless focus on solving some of the UK’s most complex cyber and security challenges.”
The deal shows a large technology provider buying assured, sector-specific cybersecurity expertise rather than building it.
For buyers in defense and public-sector outsourcing, it puts security-assured delivery alongside digital transformation capability inside a single provider.
IBM Consulting is now positioned to pitch U.K. clients on adopting AI within sovereign, security-assured environments, a combination buyers comparing the top AI outsourcing companies will weigh.
