IBM launches GenAI innovation center in Kochi, India

KOCHI, INDIA — Tech giant IBM has announced the establishment of a GenAI Innovation Center in Kochi, India. This new facility aims to accelerate AI innovation, boost productivity, and strengthen generative AI expertise in the country.
As organizations transition from AI experimentation to practical deployment, many face challenges due to the complexity of AI projects and limited expertise. The GenAI Innovation Center addresses these issues by providing access to IBM experts and cutting-edge technologies. It will serve as a hub for enterprises, startups, and partners to explore and build generative AI technology.
Addressing AI implementation challenges
The center leverages InstructLab, a revolutionary technology jointly developed by IBM and Red Hat. This open-source project enhances Large Language Models (LLMs) with client-specific data, allowing for more customized AI applications.
Additionally, the facility will utilize IBM’s watsonx AI and data platform, along with AI assistant technologies, to provide a comprehensive suite of tools for AI development.
Clients will have the opportunity to fine-tune LLMs and collaborate with IBM to deploy their own trained, fine-tuned, and governed models for various enterprise use cases.
The GenAI Innovation Center will be part of the IBM India Software Lab in Kochi and will be managed by IBM’s technical experts. It aims to foster a community focused on leveraging generative AI to address diverse challenges, including sustainability, public infrastructure, healthcare, education, and inclusion.
