IBM launches new AI-powered cybersecurity service

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — Technology giant IBM has announced a new managed cybersecurity service that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to help organizations detect and respond to threats across cloud and on-premise environments.
Managed cybersecurity services provide ongoing management and monitoring of a company’s security operations by a team of experts. IBM’s new Threat Detection and Response (TDR) service aims to augment security teams by using AI to automatically analyze threats.
The TDR service provides 24/7 monitoring, investigation and remediation of security alerts. It integrates with an organization’s existing security tools and uses advanced analytics and real-time threat intelligence to filter out false positives and escalate critical threats.
IBM states that the service’s AI capabilities can automatically close up to 85% of low priority alerts, freeing up security teams to focus on the most critical threats.
The TDR service is supported by IBM’s team of over 6,000 cybersecurity professionals worldwide who monitor over 2 million endpoints and 150 billion security events daily.
According to IBM, the new offering helps clients augment their security operations without needing to completely replace existing investments.
TDR provides intelligent optimization of detection policies, assessment of MITRE ATT&CK framework coverage, and integration with security ecosystems via API.
IBM is a major provider of IT services and generated $60.5 billion in total revenue for 2022, including $9.3 billion in free cash flow. The company saw strong growth across its software, consulting and infrastructure businesses.
